The year has flown by and now the darker evenings are with us we can look forward to the resumption of the 12 Car series for the rest of the year. After a couple of issues with logistics for both the Driveshaft and the September 12 Car we are back on track with the September 12 Car now running in place of the Driveshaft on 17th October, organised by Graeme Williamson and myself. Details are in this magazine and on the website with entry information available from Graeme as I am away at present.
Our second Autosolo of the year took place successfully at Kemble in last month and there is a report somewhere in this magazine.
As a club we are still looking to members for ideas, venues, etc. to enable us to put on some more events including perhaps some different events to those that we have traditionally undertaken; if you have any thoughts on this please pass them on to the Committee.
We have been asked by Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance to be involved with a car show that they are planning to hold at their base in Semington next year. This would be an ideal opportunity for the Club to get some good publicity and support the Charity that we have been involved with for a number of years. We will be fully involved with the planning and running of the show, although at the moment details are limited but it looks like the date will be in May. We will be looking for classic, competition, performance and “interesting” cars to attend from members and their friends along with the Club’s gazebo`s and promo equipment, in fact it is hoped that the show can have in the region of 80 cars on display.
If you can help with the running of this event and/or want to show a car, please let either myself or Keith Edwards know.
I am sure you all remember that the Club AGM now takes place before the November club night when the Committee positions for next year are voted on. Remember, all positions are available and in particular we are looking for a person to take over the role of Club Secretary. Janet Edwards has been doing this role all year even though she only stepped in to help on a temporary basis.
If any member wishes to get more involved with running the Club and/or joining the Committee but is unsure about what is required, please get in touch with me. New organisers, committee members, etc. with “fresh” ideas are always welcome and there is plenty of advice and guidance available, so you won’t be “thrown in the deep end”!
Also, just a quick reminder that it is time to give those trophies from last year a clean and return them at either the November or December club night so they can be engraved ready to be awarded to the recipients who have won them this year.
Till Later
Chris Foxley
