The Devils Tour

15th/16th April 2017

  • Yes, it’s running again this year!
  • Similar to previous offerings, but slightly refined following feedback from you
  • Date; 15th/16th April 2017
  • Devizes & District Motor Club, starting and finishing Westbury, Wilts.

You may have already read on this forum that we will again be running The Devil’s Tour Rally over the Easter weekend. It will be based upon the successful format that we have developed over recent years. The Devil’s Tour was designed to build upon what we offered with the Myotis Rally, but with a few differences. So we want to welcome past crews, marshals and new crews to our third running of The Devil’s Tour Rally as a navigational event. Having listened to what competitors have told us, the event provides tests in the late afternoon, followed by an early halt. The night section will start with a ‘jogularity’ in the lanes, before a more compact run over our favourite gravel roads to finish at around 0100hrs. Over the past few days we have checked the route over the gravel roads which we found are in great condition.

We are still able to run an event in an area of Southern England that very rarely sees a rally car. Because of the format of the event and the area where the roads are located, we sincerely hope that the event will go unnoticed by the public but will be enjoyed by all competitors.

This rally will build on the success of our club’s previous events as we continually strive to produce a challenging event for you. The 9 daylight tests timed to the second may appear familiar but will include new roads and will run in a revised order to provide a more compact route with even less road miles. These are all tests on roads and are not ‘car park’ type venues. There will be no spectator access to the venues as they are on private land. Marshals are most welcome though. A ‘jogularity’, utilised so that no speed tables are needed, will lead crews away from Westbury for the night section. There will be no petrol halt, being less than 100 miles long. The route will be defined by references given out at the start and evening break. Diagrams will be used to further explain certain sections.

We are looking at holding the entry fee at last year’s rate. Again it will not include supper as we want to give you flexibility about your eating but you will be able to purchase from a menu that offers hot choices. Hot drinks will also be offered at the finish.

To help your planning, the closing date for entries will be 7th April 2017 and we have to restrict entries to 50 crews.

Be assured that this event is always a goer…
